Once upon a time, there lived an old man and an old woman. One day the old man said, “Do make a bun for me, my dear.” The old woman took flour from a box, made dough out of flour. And from the dough, she made a little round bun. She baked it and put it on the window sill to cool. The little round bun lay there for sometime. Then it rolled from the window to a bench, from bench to the floor and from the floor to the door. From the door it rolled out of the gate. It rolled on and on.
By and by it met a rabbit on the way. The rabbit said, |
“Stop little round bun, I'm going to eat you up.”
“Don’t do that, rabbit. Let me sing you a song” said the bun and it began to sing.
“Taken out of flour box
Made into a dough
And baked in the oven
And cooled on the sill.
I ran away from Grandapa
I ran away from Grandama
And I'll run away from the rabbit
And off it rolled away.
ଏକଦା, ଏକ ବୁଢ଼ା ଓ. ଏକ ବୁଢ଼ୀ ଥିଲା|. ଦିନେ ବୁଢାଟି
କହଲା, ମୋ ପୟ 'ମୋ ପାଇଁ ଏକ ବନ ( ପାଉଁରୁଟି) ତିଆରି କର ।'
ବୁଢ଼ୀ ଏକ ବାକ୍ସ ମଧ୍ଯରୁ ଅଟା ନେଲା, ଅଟା ଚକଟା ତିଆରି କଲା ଏବଂ ସେଥ୍ରୁ ଏକ ଛୋଟ ଗୋଲ ବନ୍ ତିଆରି କଲା । ସେ ତାକୁ ବେକ୍ କଲା ଓ ଝରକା ତାଜାରେ ଥଣ୍ଡା ହେବା
ପାଇଁ ରଖିଦେଲା ।
ଛୋଟ ଗୋଲ ବନ୍ଟି କିଛି ସମୟ ସେଠାରେ ପଡ଼ି ରହିଲା। ତା'ପରେ ତାହା ଝରକାରୁ ଗୋଟିଏ ବେଞ୍ଚକୁ ଗଡ଼ି
ଗଲା, ବେଞ୍ଚରୁ, ଅଗଣାକୁ ଓ ତା'ପରେ ଅଗଣାରୁ ଦୁଆରକୁ । ଦୁଆରୁ ତାହା ଗଡ଼ିଗଲା ଫାଟକ ବାହାରକୁ । ଏହା ଗଡ଼ି
ଗଡ଼ି ଚାଲିଲା ।
“ ଗଡୁ ଗଡୁ ତାହା ବାଟରେ ଏକ ଠେକୁଆକୁ ଭେଟିଲା | ଠେକୁଆଟି କହିଲା,“ରହ ଛୋଟ ଗୋଲ ବନ୍, ମୁଁ ତୋତେ ଖାଇବାକୁ ଯାଉଛି ।”
ତାହା କର ନାହିଁ, ଠେକୁଆ”, ମୋତେ ତୋ ପାଇଁ ଗୋଟେ ଗୀତ ଗାଇବାକୁ ଦେ', ଏହା କହି ବନ୍ଟି ଗୀତ ଗାଇବାକୁ ଆରମ୍ଭ କଲା ।
“ଅଟା ବାକ୍ସରୁ ବାହାର କରାଗଲା ।
ଅଟା ଚକଟାରେ ପରିଣତ କରାଗଲା ।
ଓ ଓଭେନ୍ରେ ସେକା ହେଲା
ଓ ଝରକା ତାଜାରେ ଥଣ୍ଡା ହେଲା
ମୁଁ ଦଉଡ଼ି ପଳାଇ ଆସିଲି ଜେଜେମା'ଙ୍କ ପାଖରୁ
ଓ ମୁଁ ଦଉଡ଼ି ପଳେଇବି ଠେକୁଆ ପାଖରୁ
ଏହି କ୍ଷଣି ମୁଁ ଚାଲିଯିବି ।”
ଏବଂ ସେ ଗଡ଼ି ଗଡ଼ି ପଳେଇଗଲା।
